Disability Awareness Training
Laying the foundation for building an accessible community
Following multiple requests from a number of organisations to provide information and Disability Awareness Training, NorthAble launched their Disability Awareness Workshops aimed at (but not limited to) staff within NGOs, service providers, allied health providers, government and community agencies.
Increasing awareness and improving accessibility lays the foundation for building an inclusive community and achieving equality for people with disabilities. Education around appropriate responsiveness to people with disabilities promotes value, inclusion and participation within our communities. All NGO’s, service providers, allied health providers, government and community agencies have a duty to ensure that a person with a disability can access their services on the same terms as any other consumer. Those operating other businesses may recognise the potential of this increasing market.
Our workshop presenters include Cheyenne Harris and Kaz Howlett who both hold the NZQA National Certificate qualification in Community Support Services - Disability Information Provision - Level 4.
Workshops will be held in Whangarei and other Northland areas during 2018.
Cost: $65.00 plus GST per person, or $50 plus GST per person if 3 or more attend from one organisation
Attendees receive a certificate and a book/resource outlining course material.
