| 1980's | Organisation based in a small office in Vine St Whangarei, with a manager, a few support staff, and volunteers. |
| 1989 | Joined the New Zealand Federation of Disability Information Centres. |
| 1990 | The Northland Disabilities Resource Centre (NDRC) Trust was formed. |
| 1994 | Health reforms of 1994, and the subsequent transfer of Department of Social Services funding from Social Welfare to the Northern Regional Health Authority are boost growth of NRDC. |
| 1996 | The organisation moved to the current offices, in John Street, Whangarei. |
| 2005 | Organisation changed name to NorthAble. |
| 2006 |
We implemented the Northland Early Support Pilot Project in response to NorthAble NASC identifying a trend of young disabled people moving to residential services out of the Northland region. A lack of resilience and resources within the family and fragmented disability support were thought to be significant contributing factors. |
| 2010 | NorthAble opened the Equipment Plus (EQ+) shop on the Corner of John and Dent Sts, Whangarei. |
| 2012 | A mobile information and equipment service opens, travelling Te Tai Tokerau. |
| 2014 |
NorthAble developed the Navigation™ model which has proven to be highly effective and is deemed to be transferable across regions and sectors. After consultation with the New Zealand Ministry of Health, Northable Navigation Services was piloted with Taikura Trust in Auckland. |
| 2018 | With the main office and shop in Whangarei, an equipment outlet agency in Kaitaia, a mobile van and on-the-road staff, NorthAble provides equipment, information and disability support services throughout Te Tai Tokerau. |
| Future | NorthAble’s vision is as the innovative and leading provider of equipment, information and disability support services in Northland. |
