LYNKZ Programme Facilitator

NorthAble Disability Services is proud to have been serving Northland communities since 1990.

An opportunity exists for a vibrant, enthusiastic person with excellent people skills to become a Programme Facilitator for NorthAble’s LYNKZ Programm.

This position may be full or part-time depending upon the applicant, with core hours being 9:00-15:00 Monday through Friday. All applicants must be able to provide full-time cover for annual leave. 

The key function of the Programme is to provide community participation opportunities and activities for people with disabilities 16 - 64yrs of age.  Previous experience working with vulnerable people is therefore essential, and work with disabled people desirable. This day programme generally operates Mon – Thur, with Friday allocated to planning and administration. 

The successful applicant will have great facilitation, planning and risk management skills to work with a diverse group of people, support workers, parents, whanau, carers, volunteers and organisations. Excellent stakeholder communication is there for a must.

You will be a part of the small and dedicated LYNKZ team, working with the senior facilitator day to day and reporting to the Client Services Manager.  The LYNKZ Programme and its team is an integral part of NorthAble Disability Services. 

Person Specification

The successful applicant will have the following skills and attributes.

  • Knowledge, understanding and previous experience of working with vulnerable or disabled people
  • Effective communication and sensitivity with people of all disciplines and cultures. Tikanga Maori familiarity
  • Experience in identifying risk, writing up plans, carrying out processes and goal settings
  • Excellent facilitation, planning and time management skills
  • Outcome focused
  • Highly motivated, able to apply initiative, work with change and manage stress
  • Good knowledge of Whangarei services and activities
  • Intermediate user of Microsoft Office, Outlook etc
  • Able to work after hours on occasions (Time in Lieu provided)
  • Current clean Driver’s licence with the ability to drive a 12 seater van
  • Current First Aid Certificate Level 2 (or willingness to acquire)
  • Some artistic or music ability desirable
  • H&S qualification an advantage
  • An understanding of the Enabling Good Lives philosophy, N.Z. Disability Strategy, Treaty of Waitangi, the United Nations Convention on Rights of Persons with Disabilities
  • A relevant qualification and/or experience in a related field
  • A satisfactory Ministry of Justice Criminal Record History check

Disability Equipment Sales Supervisor 1.0FTE (40hrs p/wk)

NorthAble Disability Services is proud to have been serving Northland communities since 1990.  

Established in 2010, our NorthAble Equipment Plus (EQ+) retail service is a fast-growing New Zealand wide business promoting mobility and independence through selling and hiring of rehabilitation, aged care, and disability equipment. EQ+ provides advice, product information, sales, and excellent customer service.

The ideal candidate would be a self-motivated and confident person with over five years of retail, and customer service experience for this fulltime position.  The successful applicant requires a high level of professionalism and the ability to relate well to a wide variety of people.  Product training will be provided. 

Usual hours will be  8.30am - 5.00pm Monday – Friday.  In addition, there is a Saturday morning roster (9.00am – midday) approx every 3-4 weeks.  Flexibility will be required for occasional after hours or weekend Expo / Show attendance.

The successful applicant will have:


  • Ability to identify business opportunities to increase sales
  • Ability to drive sales to reach target KPIs 
  • To be able to prepare annual budgets with full P&L responsibility
  • Comprehensive understanding and proven experience of developing people and managing performance
  • Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy in administration and maintenance of system management tools including Shopify Website, VEND Point of Sale, and ACCESS Database and Microsoft applications
  • Source and purchase quality products and equipment at competitive wholesale prices
  • Excellent time management and the ability to plan effectively and work within established processes and meet deadlines
  • A high level of accuracy in all areas of stock inventory management
  • Have the ability to work under pressure and complete work in expected timeframes / deadlines
  • Shop display, stock control, and marketing experience
  • Availability to work on rostered Saturday shifts and attend and assist at trade fairs / expos on weekends as required
  • Establish and maintain professional working relationships with suppliers and external stakeholders
  • Support of the scheduled monthly mobile van service across Northland as required
  • Customer service / sales experience
  • Cash handling skills / POS experience
  • Excellent personal presentation
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, spelling, and grammar
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a wider team
  • Honesty and reliability
  • A clean and full drivers licence (ability to drive both a manual Ford Transit van and automatic vehicles)
  • Physical capability for occasional heavy lifting
  • The right to live and work in New Zealand and pass a Ministry of Justice check


  • Business qualification or five years of sales experience is desirable 
  • Experience in the Disability Sector 
  • Some knowledge of Maori tikanga
